e-Filling & e-Invoicing Management Workshop

I’m honored to be the master ceremony or host for last Thursday’s live webinar titled “E-Filling & E-Invoicing Management Workshop” which was held on 4th April 2024 from 9 am to 12 pm. With an outstanding participation of around 540 viewers nationwide, this free online webinar was jointly organized by us who are the committees of the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) Penang Chapter and also the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, particularly the Penang branch.

The main purpose of this online seminar is to introduce the Mytax application with an emphasis on the Electronic tax filing system to raise public awareness of the importance of tax filing. We hope to make taxpayers aware of their rights and responsibilities under the Income Tax Act 1967 and later introduce and explain the concept of electronic invoice models to taxpayers.

In the world of digitalization, we should be flexible enough to adopt the new norms, implement them, and improve our lives. These advantages include the ease and accessibility and sharing of information, reduced human errors, improved productivity, and efficiency. The main benefit of digitalization is a reduction in physical products such as paper usage which leads to lower wastage and energy consumption, and therefore reduced greenhouse gas emissions. All good for the environment, Mother Earth, and us.

E-invoicing as a digital representation of a transaction between a supplier and a buyer will be implemented soon in different phases starting this year to replace paper or electronic documents such as invoices, credit notes, and debit notes. Its implementation is in line with the Twelfth Malaysia Plan, one of the key focuses is on strengthening the digital services infrastructure and digitalizing the tax administration between the Business-to-Business (B2B), Business-to-Consumer (B2C), and Business-to-Government (B2G) transactions. By 1st Jul 2025, all taxpayer will need to have e-invoicing carried out in their business system.
